CLAUSE



              Definition
      
         The Clause is a group of words with a subject and a verb. The clause is only a part of a sentence or is joined by a conjunction. It is always two kinds of the clause (main clause and subordinate clause).
                  
          Sentence: In the sentence have two clauses like Main clause and Subordinate clause.

I.                   Main clause

What is the main clause?
     The main clause is a clause that is enough meaning and it isn’t independence clause.
Ex: I go to school every day.
       She has been working in factory.

II.                Subordinate clause

The subordinate clause is a clause that cannot stand alone and it needs other dependence clause.
Ex: When I was born.
       Who love you?

1.     Noun clause
       What is the noun clause?
The noun clause is the subordinate clause. There is function like noun that can have subject and verb.
         




a.     Conjunction is become noun clause (that, but, whether, if, like ....)

                    S + v…. + conjunction + s + v…..
 


   Form



   Ex: You cannot speak but you can listen.
       He will go if you agree with me.
       I know that he comes there.


b.     Relative pronounce is become noun clause ( who, what, which, whom …..)

                      S + V + …. + Relative pronoun +(S) + V + …
 


   Form:



Ex: My mother gave which advice is best.
       Your students understood what I say.
c.      Relative adverb is become noun clause ( where, when, how, why,..)

                        S + V … + Relative adverb +(S) + V…….
 


  Form:

Ex: Her mother lived where I liked
       They played football when they were young.
2.      Adjective clause
       What is the adjective clause?
The adjective clause is occupied place of an adjective to modify a noun.
a)     Relative pronoun is become adjective clause ( who, whom, what, ..)

              Antecedent noun + relative pronoun + (S) + V…..

Ex: the boy whom police arrested last month is a robber.
       I know the man whose bike is stolen.
b)    Relative adverb is become adjective clause (where, why, how,…)

            Antecedent noun + relative pronoun + S + V…
 



Ex: Prey Veng Province where I like best.
      The lesson how students study every day is important.
3.     Adverb clause
What is the adverb clause?
 The adverb clause is occupied the place of an adverb that is why it modifies verb.
